“Yodpiman River Walk”
To Reinvigorate Yodpiman’s Status as Asia’s Top Flower City
Mr. Chaleo Preekran, chairman of Yodpiman Flower Market Group, announces that his group is spending Bt1.5 billion on the “Yodpiman River Walk” project. Via this initiative, elegant buildings will shine by Chao Phraya River and boast the Rattanakosin Island’s longest riverside walkway veranda.
The “Yodpiman River Walk” project will be developed under the “Thai Heritage Mall” concept. As parts of the development, the group’s old buildings by the Chao Phraya River will be renovated in the Neo Classic Colonial style. Reminiscent of Western culture-influenced architectures in the earlier days of Rattanakosin Period, the renovated structures will blend well with surrounding landscape on the Rattanakosin Island. Interior designs will tell of Thailand’s history from Ayutthaya, to Thon Buri and to Rattanakosin periods. The Yodpiman River Walk project covers six buildings namely the Siam Prakan, the Viman Ayothaya, the Navapanich, the Wijit Phra Nakhon, the Yodpiman Thani, and the Buri Saran.
Each building will serve as a shopping complex with a variety of products and services from Thai and international brands. Thai spa products and OTOP stuff, in particular, will be available. With more than 40 shops including restaurants, the complex is poised to attract both Thais and foreigners as it can respond well to their various needs.
The “Yodpiman River Walk” project will stand out above all other riverside shopping centers because it sits on a perfect location. Its customers can enjoy the beautiful view of many Bangkok’s landmarks such as the Memorial Bridge, the Santa Cruz Church, Wat Kalayanamitr, and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). Moreover, it will feature the 300-meter-long walkway veranda via which tourists can fully indulge in the magnificent river scenery.
Mr. Chaleo Preekran adds that another key strength of the “Yodpiman River Walk” project is its two big piers. According to him, his group will construct the Rattanakosin Island’s biggest piers at the project. Each of these piers will be as long as 24 meters. Key partners including Chao Phraya Tourist Boat (by Chao Phraya Express Boat) are also set to help attracting customers to the Yodpiman River Walk. As an extra appeal, the project is considering the use of tuk-tuk-style boats for tourists coming to its site.
Yodpiman Flower Market Group has already allocated the Bt50million budget for promoting the Yodpiman River Walk next year. The advertising/PR campaign will cover all media as the group aims to fast create public awareness of this new interesting destination. After its launch, the Yodpiman River Walk will host a series of events too so as to attract both Thai and foreign tourists.
“Yodpiman Flower Market Group” has owned not just the “Yodpiman River Walk” but also the “Pak Khlong Market” and the “Yodpiman Flower Market”. Together, they span over more than 15 rai of land. The two markets are often collectively referred to as “Pak Khlong Talat” and known as the wholesale flower, vegetable and fruit market. The place is also Thailand’s biggest and the world’s fourth biggest flower market. So many Thais and foreigners are fascinated by the Pak Khlong Talat vendors and their ways of life. Drawn by these magnets, a large number of tourists are prone to visit the “Yodpiman River Walk” too.
Mr. Chaleo Preekran says his group has planned to construct an academic center within the same compound in the future too because there are many schools nearby. This academic center will be a hub of quality tutorial schools.
He is confident that the “Yodpiman River Walk”, the two markets, and the academic center will respond well to the various lifestyles of all Thais and foreigners.
The construction for the “Yodpiman River Walk” project has already started, with the riverside walkway to be completed by the coming March and all other parts by late next year.
With its full operation, the Yodpiman River Walk is expected to attract about 20,000 customers each day with Thais accounting for 70 per cent of the customer base. Moreover, after the MRT’s Sanamchai Station opens in a nearby location in 2015, the number of customers at the Yodpiman River Walk will likely soar further. The Yodpiman Flower Market Group expects the Yodpiman River Walk to break even within five years.
